OUR WORSHIP MODEL (Form & Substance):
Generally speaking, our fellowship practices what can best be described as “Psalmic Worship”. The principles, precepts, and components of such a worship “style” are found primarily in the Old Testament.
It is our belief that some components of worship modeled in the history of the ancient church still remain useful (and appropriate) tools for bringing corporate worship and praise offerings. There are three basic ways to assess which of those components are still relevant for use in the contemporary church of today.
*Used in Old Testament practices but prohibited by some directive from God or canceled out under the New Covenant dispensation presented in the New Testament.
*Used in Old Testament practices and never prohibited by any directive from God which implies that the practice or precept can still be appropriated in worship today.
*Carried over into the text of the New Testament from Old Testament teaching and therefore still active in the life of the present and future church.

Using these three points as guidelines, Smyrna Assembly continues to prayerfully study the Scriptures in order to gain knowledge, understanding and wisdom regarding the how’s, what’s, and why’s of the corporate worship experience. We attempt to use whatever components and resources that are sanctioned by the Holy Ghost to glorify the Father, honor and exalt the Son, and acknowledge the power and presence of the Spirit --- for the advancement of God’s kingdom.
An aphorism:
Knowledge is Information
(First we receive the data)
Understanding is Interpretation
(Then we process the data)
Wisdom is Application
(Then we apply/teach the data)
